Tyres marked "RF" or "Reinforced" are reinforced car/bus tyres and have a load carrying capacity 3 - 5 points higher on the load index than conventional tyres. Other possible markings are "Extra Load" or "XL".
This type of tyre has a series of emergency operating features that allow the driver to continue driving at speeds of up to 80 km/h for approx. 200 km even with a complete loss of air pressure.
C tyres are commercial vehicle tyres standardised in accordance with ECE-R54. This distinguishes them from car/bus tyres that are otherwise comparable (e.g. reinforced tyres).
This is displayed in millimetres (here: 195 mm). Traditional car/bus tyres have widths between 125 mm (e.g. 125/80 R 12) up to approx. 335 mm (e.g. 335/30 R 19). The widths increase in increments of 10mm.
Aspect ratioIs the second figure of the tyre marking. e.g. 195/65 R 15. The aspect ratio of 65 is calculated from the tyre height (H) and width (W) in mm. A = H:W x 100.
The rim diameter is determined by measuring radially from rim to rim and the measurement is usually stated in inches (″). The most common measurements range from 10″ to 20″.
The load index is a code number indicating a tyre’s load bearing capacity. The tyres must meet the load index specified in the vehicle documents when mounted; higher load index values are permitted.
The speed index is a code letter indicating a tyre’s maximum speed. The tyres must meet the speed index specified in the vehicle documents when mounted; higher load index values are permitted.
If you select tyres of the size 205/55 R16 91H, for example, we will also include models with a higher speed index (SI) e.g. V in your search criteria. Tyres with a higher SI are also suitable for your vehicle.
